I will miss my sister Joan calling to chat or remind me of programs on tv .I will miss her at concerts , casino rama and concerts at Massey Hall , and trips to Toronto with her , and visiting
' doors open ' in Clarington . She had 87 good years . ( shh shh keep that quiet she doesn't want anyone to know her age ) :-)
She was very very proud of her nephews and neices , especially nephew Shane and his life .

I am sure she is in a ,' Heaven ', laughing at my age comment .

I will miss you and your interesting stories. You were an incredibly strong, independent woman who knew how to live her best life, while always looking so fashionable! 😘💕💕

For most of us grandchildren, after grandmother's passing, she was the family matriarch. She knew how every family member was doing, who was getting married, who was having a birthday and who was having children. She kept a brisk schedule of ensuing that she made every family event. What an extraordinary life. This woman, up until COVID and late into life would get to the train station, take the train by herself up to Toronto, shop all around Toronto, get her hair done and make visits. Sadly, COVID I truly believe affected many people indirectly just as harshly as if they had been struck by this virus. For over a year this Virus kept this energetic lady isolated and unable to do the things she loved including physical therapy, I say this because everyone must appreciate how this past year+ has affected so many indirectly and please reach out to them and keep in contact, by phone, letter etc. She led an amazing life, going all the way back to helping grandma with her younger siblings on the Luxton farm, dedicating her life to teaching all of those years and continuing to educate herself late into life. Her strength and grand laugh was an inspiration to us all. I am now in my 50's and Aunt Joan never missed sending me a birthday card or Christmas card. Faye sent her some Valentines items this year and Joan's response summed up her positive outlook. Even though she was stuck in her home alone due to the virus, when someone dropped off a turkey plate on Christmas for her, she said in the letter, 'Shane, I have SO MUCH to be thankful for.' She was an incredibly lady with incredible energy that kept up with the times, especially the styles(!), the news, the Hollywood gossip and all things newsworthy. She led a grand life and we were all so blessed to have her in our life.
I will always cherish her wisdom and grand laugh.
She ended her last letter to me with these words, 'Let's hope the coming year-2021-is better for all of us.' So lets not disappoint her and everyone, on her behalf, stay healthy and have a great 2021 in whatever way you can because Joan truly would wish that for all of us. An extraordinary lady.....
