Obituary

Mitchell Chort passed away on April 19, 2021 at the age of 64, in his home in Kendal, ON.

At a young age, Mitchell had a love and fascination for mechanics that would carry on his whole life. His knack for understanding how things worked led him to taking a position as a millwright in Oshawa for over 20 years. When he wasn’t fixing machinery at work he could be found tinkering on his motorcycles and cars.

Mitchell was a man who kept to his own but had a kind heart and was known for helping friends and neighbours. He had a warm, charming smile and enjoyed making those around him laugh. He loved anything with an engine and there was always a perfectly maintained motorcycle waiting in the garage. No longer in pain, he can now ride his Harley into the never ending sunset.

Mitchell will be forever remembered by his daughter Alexa, his grandchildren Harlin, Aveline & Kohen, his brother Wayne, and sister Sandra. A celebration of Mitchell’s life will be held at a later date.

We have been neighbours for 21 years and we always had chats while working in our garden while he was working in his yard or working on a car or working on his motorcycle. We had a great relationship with respect for one anothers privacy. We came home one time many years ago to a little table placed on our deck that mitch thought we could use when bbq'ing! Another time Mitch was working on a pedal bike and Ron mentioned to him about getting one to ride with me and mitch said here you go........take it............that's the easy relationship we had........another time I was shovelling our neighbours driveway and next thing I knew mitch was there beside me........helping............our chats were never long but there was always a friendly wave saying hi Donna or hi Ron..........I will miss seeing him working away on his toys when I'm going for my walks and I know Ron is going to miss the mechanical assistance chats and the yard chats.............we are going to miss our very respectful neighbour..........Donna and Ron

When I moved to the neighbourhood, Mitch was kind enough to chat with me and say Hi. He always nodded or gave a little wave if he drove by and I was out on the porch. He was a private person and that was respected. To his family, I hope that your good and cherished memories of him, will remain a treasure in your heart....from Sam
