On Aug.8, family and friends are gathering to say “Farewell” to my ‘Big’ little brother, Ron. As siblings born a year apart, and, having older sisters 13 and 18 years older, we had our parents’ undivided attention. Life on the farm in Saskatchewan in the 40’s meant we had many animals; however, the star of our early school life was “Buster”. He was a character and he offered the perfect opportunity for Ron’s adventuresome side. After school, the boys would hitch Buster on to a long wooden toboggan and away we’d many passengers as could hold on! I can hear Ron laughing as one by one, his ride got lighter. In later years, we had to attend high school in Tisdale so we often walked about 2 miles to catch the bus—-often with some mischief added.
When his former school mates and friends have called me this week, many said Ron was always a good guy, but, you had to be careful as the prankster in him could show up at anytime!
Many memories and many miles separating us for most of our life...I’ll miss you, ‘Big’ little brother.

Sending our sincere condolences to the Haldenby family. Ron was a great guy and really liked our chats when he would come to the shop. He will be missed by all.
