BRITTON, Dolina Josephine “Dolly”
May 31, 1930 – July 12, 2020
On Sunday, July 12, 2020 Dolly Britton (nee: Wludyka) passed peacefully with her family by her side at the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Frank Britton to whom she was married for 54 years. Cherished mother to George Britton and Judy (Ed) Donaldson. Loving grandma to Joey and Tim. Survived by her siblings Charlotte (Ernie), Evelyn (Larry) and Walter “Butch” (Helen). Pre-deceased by her sisters Eileen and Clara. Dolly will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and many friends. She and Frank owned Frank’s Variety for many years. Dolly was an avid gardener and was known for her beautiful gardens and especially for her roses. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bowmanville Ontario since 1954. The family of Dolly would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Deborah Jefferson for her kindness and compassion. Due to the restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private family burial at the Bowmanville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Judy and George:
I just learned today of news of your Mother. You both gave her a lovingly full life; she was so very proud of you both.
We just spoke June 28 and she was as upbeat and lucid as ever! She joked about the odd ache and pain, then we'd get back to talking about the good ol' Bowmanville days.
Her goodness ensures that she will live on in all who've had the honour of her friendship. We Stackaruks send our love to our dear Friends, the Brittons.

Hi Jim and all the family, Thank you so much for remembering our mother so fondly. She always loved to hear from you and catch up. Your family was always very good to our parents. Thanks again and take care, Judy and George

We were saddened to hear of Dolly’s passing. She and Frankie were the heart of downtown Bowmanville for decades with there variety store. They always supported and sponsored many sports teams. They also scooped more ice cream than anyone in the region. Dolly was always the lady and will be missed. Dennis and Emily Sullivan.

Hi Dennis and Emily, thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing with us. We certainly have many great memories of the store and the friends along King Street. We are so happy that you remember them fondly. Thanks again, Judy and George

I am so sorry to hear of Dollys passing . I can't imagine the world without her in it . Dolly was just like a Mother to me .

I loved going in the back door at lunchtime with Judy and eating my lunch at the table as the goings on of the store continued . Dolly was always smiling , even when there were troubles.

Dolly was one of the most easy going , loving women that I have known , She always spoke with sincerity in her words .
Just knowing she isn't in Bowmanville anymore is an odd thought .

I look forward to having her visit from the spirit world .
Sending loads of love and hugs to all of you , George , Judy and the whole family
