LUNAU, Robert Harold

August 23, 1947 – June 30, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Harold Lunau announce his passing on June 30, 2020. Robert passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital in his 73rd year. Beloved husband to Doris Ann Cartwright for 26 wonderful years. Dear brother to Diane (decd Doug) Ridley, deceased Hugh Lunau (Hazel) and Jim (Millie) Lunau. Cherished father to Yolanda (John) Thompson, Jeff Croke, Denise (Sean) Murphy, David Metcalfe. Loving Poppa to Leif Murphy, Liam Murphy, Addison Croke, Riley Thompson, Alexis Croke and Carter Thompson. He will be fondly remembered by all of his nieces and nephews.

Bob was pre-deceased by his mother Mera and father John.

After 36 years of employment at the Toronto Star, Bob retired as the Circulation Manager at the Vaughn Press Centre. Bob was loved by all that knew him and you always knew when Bob had arrived as he was the contagious laugh that lit up the room. He always had a goofy joke to share and laughed at the silliest things be it a dumb commercial on tv or watching cartoons with the grandkids. Bob enjoyed retirement with Doris cruising the world and experiencing each country’s ice cream and beer at every port. Winters were enjoyed in Weslaco, Texas at Ranchero Village golfing, playing water volleyball, crib and dancing the two step at all the happy hours and dances. Bob loved and lived life to it’s fullest and will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

The family is grateful to the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville staff who took amazing care of him during his last days.

Due to the current restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is choosing to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date once it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Melanoma Network of Canada.

Doris and Family...Everything thing in the obit is so very true....Bob was a super great guy and someone who I had more fun with just teasing each other....Such a great help when asked if he would do something for us in the ceramics room.. I am going to miss him so much as I know his family and Ranchero will not be the same without him... RIP our good friend.. Hugs to Doris and the family....

My condolences to the family on the passing of Bob. I worked with him for many years at The Star and found him to be a happy, friendly and outgoing person. He was always quick with a joke and pleasure to be around. I am sure that the many good memories that you have of Bob will help you through this time of grief.
