Obituary

Bromley, Donald Edward
(Retired- 40 years service with the Ontario Provincial Police)
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Edward Bromley announces his sudden passing on Tuesday June 23, 2020 at the age of 65.
Loving partner and best friend of Dianne O’Donnell for 31 years.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Marilyn Bromley and sister Joanne.
Dear brother of Kathryn (Don) Massey and Paul (Eirin) Bromley.
Dearly loved brother-in law to Sharon and Ed Hanewich.
Much loved Uncle of Michael and Bobby Lloyd, Andrew & Christopher Massey, and Joshua & James Bromley.
Great Uncle to Sierra, Ewan, Gracie and Rylee Lloyd, Bryce & Rhys Massey, and Connor, Yhaniz, & James Jr Bromley.
He will be fondly remembered and missed by many family members and friends.
Don lived his life as he wanted to live it. He had a heart of gold even though at times it was sometimes buried by his stubbornness. When he made his mind up, there was no changing it.
Don’s proudest accomplishment was his 40 year career as a 911 Communicator for the Ontario Provincial Police. His career started in 1973 at the now closed Newcastle Detachment and ended in 2015 at the Orillia Communication Centre. His passion for policing was shown on each and every shift he worked. No matter what type of call came in, he was always there to serve the public and made sure that the front line Officers were safe when attending the call.
Visitation will be held Saturday June 27, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. followed by a Private Family Service at 2:00 P.M. at the Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville Ontario, L1C 2Z1. A live streamed service is available at 2:00 P.M. via Morris Funeral Chapel Facebook Page.
Don will be laid to rest beside his parents and sister at the Bowmanville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
“You and I will meet again. When we are least expecting it. One day in some far off place. I will recognize your face. So, I won’t say good bye my dear brother. For you and I will meet again…..”
Kathy

Don was my supervisor at the PCC Orillia for many years. It was truly a privilege to work with him. He knew his job and did it well. He was straight forward, honest and fair. He knew how to have fun but also didn't mess around when it was time to get down to business. I have many fond memories of Bromer but will never forget the 5am sing alongs he and Jerry F. used to serenade our shift with. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to your entire family. ~ Jackie Luke

Donald though we were not close in the past few years. You had your busy life and I had mine. You were always in my thoughts. When I would meet up with someone that knew you, they always had kind words about you. Lucky for them, cause if they hadn't they would of had me to deal with. We all (cousins) had each others backs through the good and bad times. I will now miss you in my heart. Love you always Zackie Bombie AKA Jackie

Our condolences, Dianne and all. You summed Brommer's life up well... stubborn at times, a heart of gold and truly dedicated to policing and the safety of all in his care... combined with a good sense of humour. We enjoyed great fun over the years having a similar "radio" voice... and officers confusing us over the air. Don was not one to correct them... but he did respond favourably on my behalf... making sure to tell me about it at shift change. He will be missed... Dave Os/
