CONNERS, Catherine Irene passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Ajax on October 11th, 2019 with family by her side. Catherine lived an often hard and hard-working life and showed her grit and strength until her very last moments. Married to the late “Big Jim” Conners and later found her true partner in the late Carl Ross. Catherine found peace in her final days with meaningful visits and knowledge of her family’s love and commitment to reconciliation. Born in Schenectady, New York, Catherine spent most of her early years in the Napanee area and lived in many places across the Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, working at Garden Sales Nursery in Highland Creek, National Books in Mississauga and Cross Movers. Catherine will be remembered for her love of books and animals, her insatiable hunger for unhealthy food, her witty storytelling and her way of befriending people from all walks of life. Catherine was a sharp, fiercely funny, brave and hard-working woman; a legacy that will live on in all of her children, and in the dozens of (great) grandchildren that she leaves behind.
Mother to Wendy Fuller, Jack Conners (Sharon), Tom Conners (Nancy), Shelley Devine (the late Paul), Jody Ross (Jen). Pre-deceased by her three children: Larry Young (survived by Susan), Cathy McDonough (survived by George), and Vickie Massey (survived by Geoff). Dear sister of the late George Miller (Betty), the late Gerald Miller (survived by Hilda), the late Thelma Beaubien (Dick), and the late Alice Miller. Cherished grandmother to Dean (Conny), Valerie (Andy), Stacey, Ryan (Carla), Rodney (Angela), Stephanie (Amanor), Chad (Cheryl), Melissa (Alejandro), Brandon (Kristy), Ryan (Tracey), Dylan (Lindsey), Andrew (Nikki), Michelle (Dale), Jacquelyn (Jimmy) and Nathalie (Shane). Very proud great-grandmother to twenty-four great-grandchildren (with one on the way!) and three great-great-grandchildren. Will be missed deeply and remembered fondly by her dear friends Judy, Trudy, Danny, Fran, Bruce and Taleen; her extended Ross, Miller and Conners families; and many other nieces, nephews and friends whose friendships spanned the decades.
As per Catherine’s wishes cremation has taken place.
