I have utmost respect for Jean Dustan who we lovingly called "Dusty" in the Special Treatment Clinic at Women's College Hospital. I worked many years with her as the Public Health Nurse. She is very intelligent and knowledgeable, and so modest. As a young Public Health Nurse, I benefited from working with such a dedicated and kind nurse, whom I greatly admired. Margaret

I recall many years ago as a very green physician being trained by Jean Dustan at the special treatment clinic at Women's College Hospital. She was legendary there for her knowledge, expertise and her professionalism. She was one of the most progressive, kindest and most modest nurses I ever met! Today a woman of her ability, drive, interpersonal skill and empathy may well have been a leader among physicians , not that I ever felt she regretted being a nurse! I hope that nurses at Women's College Hospital today have some way to remember her.

I worked with Dusty at WCH as a part time secretary at the Special Treatment Clinic, while studying for my RNs. She was delighted when I returned to work as an RN at WCH. My favourite memories, were our supper breaks, when we would hear all the stories of her family. Knitting projects and recipes were always discussed. She never complained of the drive in from Bowmanville to work the 4-6 hour shift, with Dr Thomas and his colleagues. An absolute honour to know Dusty. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

We are very sad to hear about to loss of Aunt Jean. We will always remember our Sunday visits to Bowmanville to visit Granny that included a walk over to see Uncle Terry and Aunt Jean and the fish pond. We were always welcome and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
