Eleanor Childress passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in her 93rd year.
Dear mother of John Childress (Gail) and Nancy Kortekaas (Bert); devoted Grandmother of Robert Kortekaas and Katherine Kortekaas and adoring Great-Grandmother of Chelsey Milton.
Survived by sisters Geraldine Woolacott, Joan Hanaka, and Marianne Wannamaker (Lyle) as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased her parents John Hanaka and Mary Hanaka (Skrok); sister Dorothy Kubicki (late Walt); brother Norman Hanaka (Anne) and nephew Michael Woolacott.
Eleanor had a special place in her heart for the wonderful folks at the Oshawa John Street Adult Day Program. They helped make her last years fun. Thank you to them from all of her family. In memory of Eleanor, memorial donations to the Oshawa John Street Seniors Centre Pay It Forward program would be greatly appreciated.
To celebrate Eleanor’s life, we invite you to join us where we will be gathering at the Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Sunday April 28th 2019 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

My Mom...Pat Galbraith and myself. Diane Jacobson, both of us you may know better as The Lauzon family from Port Hope, wish to send our condolences to John and Nancy.....Mom has thought about Eleanor many times over the years.... May your Mom rest in peace.

I remember many many many years ago being at Aunt Elanor,s home at Rice Lake, My wife Kathie and I spent the night on her living room floor,,,,,,,,,,,,It was winter and very stormy ,,,,,,,and my cousin [Aunt Elanor] as we always called her made sure we had a place to spend the night safe and sound and had a GREAT breakfast the next morning before heading to home in Grimsby.
We always loved you Aunty and I will always love you ,,,,,,,,
