Obituary

TRESSIDER, HELEN ELVIRA (WIBERG) – It is with sadness that the family of Helen Tressider announce her passing on December 8, 2018 in Bowmanville, ON with the loving support of her dear friends Lee-Ann Muir and Scott Milner. Helen was born on her parent’s farm in Brockington, Saskatchewan; the youngest of ten children. After training as a hair stylist she left for Florida in 1949 and spent her career in salons in Miami, Denver, Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, Florida. A flair for fashion, Helen sewed exquisite outfits, was impeccably dressed/coiffured and enjoyed golf, quilting and her dear friend Mabel. Helen was strong willed and independent with a quick wit and engaging humor. She married Jack Tressider, the loved of her life and soul mate. They resided in Bowmanville and wintered in Florida, enjoying retirement and their close friends. We lovingly recall Helen’s numerous visits to Saskatchewan and Alberta, baking and cooking with her sisters and her love of robust conversation and family gatherings. Helen’s grand-nieces, Emma and Victoria have fond memories picking berries and enjoying her roast chicken dinners together. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack Tressider; her mother and father, Per and Klara Wiberg; brothers Helgi; Helmer, Hilding, Manfred, Henrick and sisters Mildred, Gunhild and Doris. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Ethel Markstrom and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces/nephews.
Helen’s wishes were that there be no funeral service and to be interred in Bowmanville Cemetery with her husband Jack.

Ok then ... As you are aware, Hellen took great pride in her appearance, especially her hair. Her favorite words were gosh and of course. When I was combing her hair, she would make reference and I quote “Don’t you know how to comb hair? You always start at the bottom.” These are just some of the fond memories that I will cherish. Will sure miss you Aunt Helen. You were always so much fun to visit with over the years. We were always so excited when you came to visit us when we were kids at Henricks farm. Then as years went on we sure looked forward to the times you came to visit & later coming with Jack. Enjoyed having you come to our farm(Ralph & Kim). Was so nice when you came to see Manfred & Doris in their later years. Many fond memories. Especially of us kids getting your wonderful Christmas presents from Florida. Miss you & Jack.
